Centre County Jail Roster Route
Centre County does not publish a county-hosted jail roster table with visible rows for each current detainee. The official Centre County Inmate Listing page sends the public to VINE / PA SAVIN, also reached through VINELink, and gives a short search sequence: select Pennsylvania, choose Find an Offender, enter an Offender ID or first and last name, search, then open More Info. The county's correctional facility FAQ adds that the identity of people in jail is public information under state law and that callers may ask whether a specific person is in custody by calling the jail.
This makes Centre County inmate records different from counties that post a recent-booking grid, bond column, housing unit, mugshot, and release date on their own site. VINE is a custody-status and notification route, not a full booking-sheet archive. If VINE does not find the person, the next steps are the jail phone tree, the Inmate Records Department option, a court docket search, or a Pennsylvania Right-to-Know request. For booking photos, use the separate Centre County jail mugshots record path because the county has not documented an official public mugshot gallery.
The official county inmate listing page is shown in this captured source from the Centre County inmate listing instructions.
The screenshot matters because it confirms the county's own route: VINE is the public inmate listing channel, while detailed jail records require a fallback contact or request.
Use Centre County Inmate Search
Start with the county-approved VINE route when the question is whether a person is currently in Centre County Correctional Facility custody. VINE can help confirm custody status and notification options, but it should be paired with the jail phone when timing, spelling, transfer status, or identity is uncertain. Common names can match across Pennsylvania, and a person arrested very recently may still be in booking or local police processing before the VINE record is useful.
- Open the county Inmate Listing page, then follow the link to Pennsylvania VINE / PA SAVIN.
- Select Pennsylvania and choose the Find an Offender search workflow.
- Search by Offender ID if it is known. If not, enter both first and last name.
- Review possible matches carefully, then choose More Info for the person who appears to match.
- If no match appears, call Centre County Correctional Facility at 814-355-6794 option 0 and ask whether the person is in jail.
- For deeper jail records, try option 1 for the Inmate Records Department or submit a Right-to-Know request when a written record is needed.
Important: Centre County has no official sheriff jail roster app. The Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts app is for payments, record searches, news, and court-related information, not jail custody lookup.
Centre County Roster Search Fields
The county instructions identify a small set of VINE search fields. They do not describe a county booking-number lookup table, charge filter, bond filter, date range, housing-unit filter, or recent-bookings sort. Use exact spelling where possible. If the person uses a middle name, nickname, hyphenated name, or prior last name, the jail phone fallback may be faster than testing many search variations.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| State | Selection / link step | Yes | Centre County says to click Pennsylvania before searching. |
| Find an Offender | Search mode | Yes | Use the offender-search workflow in VINE. |
| Offender ID | Text | No | Use this instead of a name search if the ID is known. |
| First Name | Text | Yes for name search | Enter the legal first name when known. |
| Last Name | Text | Yes for name search | The main name field for a VINE search. |
| More Info | Result action | No | Open after a match to review status and notification options. |
The VINE search interface is shown in this official capture from Pennsylvania VINE / PA SAVIN.
Because the system is statewide, verify that any match is tied to the right person and custody context before acting on it.
Centre County Inmate Record Fields
Centre County's public inmate listing page does not expose a full county jail profile in the research sources reviewed. That means some fields readers expect from a roster may not be visible online. The jail handbook does show that Centre County uses a six-digit CCCF booking number for tablets, outgoing mail return addresses, video visitation login, and certain hotline uses, but the county does not publish a public booking-number field table for roster searching.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Custody status | VINE is built around custody status and notification rather than full jail paperwork. |
| Name search match | Search results depend on the first and last name or Offender ID entered. |
| Booking number | Centre County uses a six-digit CCCF booking number internally, but no public roster format table was located. |
| Charges and bond | Not documented on the county inmate listing page. Check UJS dockets, jail records staff, or the court. |
| Housing unit | Not documented on the public inmate listing route reviewed. |
| Booking photo | Not promised by the county listing page. Treat photos as a separate records question. |
Centre County Jail Records Channels
The access-channel chain is important because no single Centre County search box covers every custody level. The jail phone line is the direct local fallback. The county FAQ says to call 814-355-6794 option 0 to ask whether a specific person is in jail. Search-result snippets from the official jail page also identify option 1 as the Inmate Records Department. For in-person questions, the jail is Centre County Correctional Facility at 700 Rishel Hill Road, Bellefonte, PA 16823, but no public lobby records hours were located, so call first.
| Channel | Use It For | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| VINE / PA SAVIN | Current custody lookup and victim notification for Centre County jail custody. | Not a full booking archive or mugshot gallery. |
| Jail phone option 0 | Ask if a named person is in jail. | Call volume and release processing may affect timing. |
| Inmate Records option 1 | Records-unit routing after calling the main jail number. | Availability and disclosure depend on the record type. |
| In person | Facility-level questions at the correctional facility. | Call first because public records hours were not located. |
| RTK / NextRequest | Written county or District Attorney records requests under the Right-to-Know process. | Exemptions, redaction, CHRIA, court rules, and agency routing may apply. |
The county Right-to-Know page explains online, appeal, Sheriff, and Court routing. This capture comes from the Centre County Open Records Request page.
Use that route when the task is a record request rather than quick custody confirmation.
Centre County Custody Lookup Levels
A person arrested in Centre County may pass through several systems. Local jail custody is searched through the county's VINE route and jail phone. State-sentenced custody is searched through the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. Federal sentenced custody is searched through BOP. Immigration detention is searched through ICE. Court dockets are useful for charges and hearings, but they do not prove a person is still held in the jail at the moment of search.
| Custody Level | Where to Look | What It Does Not Cover |
|---|---|---|
| County pretrial or county sentence | Centre County VINE route and 814-355-6794 option 0. | State prison, federal BOP custody, and ICE detention. |
| State-sentenced inmate or parolee | Pennsylvania DOC Inmate and Parolee Locator. | County jail detainees and people held in another state. |
| Federal sentenced inmate | Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator. | Most federal pretrial custody and county-only cases. |
| Immigration detention | ICE Online Detainee Locator System. | County criminal custody without ICE detention. |
The DOC locator is the right tool after a Centre County defendant has been sentenced to state prison or placed under DOC supervision. The Pennsylvania locator service page says the information is updated daily and excludes people in county facilities.
Centre County Jail Facilities
Centre County has one active county jail facility and one active state prison facility in the facility map. Centre County Correctional Facility is the local jail for adult pretrial detainees, county-sentenced inmates, work-release participants, and accepted contract holds. SCI Benner Township is a Pennsylvania DOC prison for state-sentenced adult male inmates. It is not searched through the county jail listing.

Centre County Booking Intake
Centre County Central Booking is located at the correctional facility. People reporting by court direction need valid photo identification and all paperwork issued by the Magisterial District Judge. The county says appointments are mandatory and processing may take at least one hour. The appointment line is 814-548-1186, and the appointment window is Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. That booking process is separate from a public roster search.
For scheduled Central Booking, the county directs visitors to enter from Rishel Hill Road, follow Central Booking signs, continue around the right side of the facility, and use the marked CBC parking spaces. If those are full, use visitor parking and walk to the intake entrance near the large garage door. Tobacco, flame-producing devices, cell phones, cameras, weapons, pocket knives, and chemical sprays must be secured outside the facility.
- Booking
- The intake process that creates the local custody record after arrest or court order.
- Detainer
- A hold from another court, agency, parole authority, federal office, or immigration authority.
- Classification
- The jail process for assigning housing and security level after intake screening.
- DOC
- The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, used after a state sentence or DOC supervision.
Centre County Inmate Visits
Visitation details are part of the inmate-record workflow because custody confirmation should happen before travel. The Centre County FAQ says visits must be arranged 24 hours in advance, slots are limited, and the inmate is responsible for setting up the visit and telling the visitor the date and time. A visitor who has been incarcerated in any jail within the last six months or is on probation will not be allowed to visit.
| Visit Topic | Centre County Rule | Source Note |
|---|---|---|
| Family visit setup | Arrange 24 hours in advance. | Inmate sets the date and tells the visitor. |
| Visitor eligibility | No visit if recently incarcerated in any jail or on probation. | FAQ rule. |
| Visitor count | One adult and up to two children, or two adults splitting the visit. | Handbook detail. |
| Official visitors | Use the official visitor application and rules. | County visitation page. |
| Video visits | Video calls go to the inmate through a docked tablet. | Booking number and TID are used. |
The official visitation landing page is captured from Centre County Visitation Information.
Confirm custody and visit setup before arriving, because the county places visit scheduling responsibility on the inmate.
Centre County Inmate Contact
Centre County does not accept incoming calls to inmates, and staff cannot relay messages. The FAQ identifies GTL as the telephone vendor and gives 1-877-650-4249 for prepaid account setup. General correspondence is handled by a contracted mail provider and placed on the inmate tablet; general mail sent straight to the facility is returned unopened with the provider address stamped. Legal and special correspondence from courts, public officials, and attorneys follows separate handling and is opened in the inmate's presence.
Outgoing mail uses the inmate name, the six-digit booking number, Centre County Correctional Facility, 700 Rishel Hill Road, Bellefonte, PA 16823-1488 as the return address. For records work, that booking number is useful when the jail, a court docket, a visitor account, or a records request needs to distinguish one person from another.
Centre County Inmate Funds
Money and commissary are not the same as a custody record, but the wrong custody system can send a family member to the wrong vendor. Centre County lists phone deposits, online ConnectNetwork deposits, and a jail lobby kiosk for telephone and commissary accounts. The FAQ says funds are available within the hour for supported card and kiosk methods, and that deposits by mail are not accepted.
| Deposit Method | Payment Types | Timing or Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Toll-free phone | MasterCard, Visa debit, credit cards | Funds available within the hour. |
| Online ConnectNetwork | MasterCard, Visa debit, credit cards | Funds available within the hour. |
| Jail lobby kiosk | Cash, MasterCard, Visa debit, credit cards | Funds available within the hour. |
| Not accepted | County FAQ says deposits by mail are not accepted. |
Commissary ordering is available weekly from 5:00 p.m. Friday to 9:00 p.m. Sunday through the inmate telephone system or tablet app. Confirm that the person is still in Centre County custody before sending funds, scheduling visits, or using a jail vendor.
